A stroll around the alleys and lanes of Fishertown will give you an insight into life during the herring boom of the early 19th century, when the harbour was packed with boats and fishwives sold the famous Nairn Speldings (smoked herring) from wicker baskets carried on their backs. Look out for the Heritage Trail plaques that tell the fascinating story of Fishertown and don’t miss the colourful mosaic mural on the side of the Little Theatre.
