Annual Events in Nairn

March: Nairn 10k and Fun Run https://scottishrunningguide.com/race/nairn-10k-5k-fun-run achieve your personal best in the Highlands on this fast, open course finishing at Nairn’s Town Hall.

April: Taste of Nairn https://nairnconnects.com/taste-of-nairn/ – A three-day celebration of local food and drink. Street-food, an Artisan Market and food demonstrations are the main events at Taste of Nairn. The music and street food festival also features live music, fashion, street-theatre and comedy events.

May: Bandstand Beer and Music Festival – Running for more than 10 years, the largest independent beer and music festival in the Highlands features over 200 ales from 70 Scottish and English Breweries, as well as ciders, whisky tastings and craft gin tastings. The festival, based at the Band stand Hotel which overlooks The Links, offers all-day food including Hog Roasts and BBQ and live music from local and professional bands.

June: Nairn 10 Mile Road Run and Fun Run – https://scottishrunningguide.com/race/nairn-nairn-10-mile-rr-and-fun-runCharity run through Nairn’s streets for 300 runners, plus a shorter fun run for the whole family.

July/August: Nairn Farmer’s Show https://davidrsim.wixsite.com/nairnshow/visiting-nairn-show  Nairn Farmer’s Show is a great day out for all the family. Get up close and personal with farm animals at the livestock displays, fill-up and discover new recipes at the food fair, and find unusual gifts and souvenirs at the craft fair. Amusements and family entertainment for big kids of all ages.

August: Nairn Highland Games http://www.nairnhighlandgames.co.uk/ First established in 1867, Nairn Highland Games is a magnet for visitors and returning natives. The games include junior and adult athletics, including mens and ladies events, including a Half-Marathon, as well as traditional games such as putting the shot, tossing the caber and, of course, tug-of-war. The Piping competition, and Highland Dancing competition, held against the spectacular background of The Links, are always popular with spectators.

September:

Nairn Book & Arts Festival – https://nairnfestival.co.uk/ A crowd-pleasing six -day festival of literature and arts featuring appearances by nationally renowned and local authors, alongside live music, drama, film and arts exhibitions and talks on heritage, art and culture. A fringe festival includes events run by local creative and performance groups. There is also a free family fun day with music, dance and children’s entertainers. Festival venues include Nairn Community & Arts Centre,Nairn Museum, The Little Theatre, Nairn Library and Laing Hall.

Wheels of Nairnhttps://www.facebook.com/events/d41d8cd9/wheels-of-nairn-2019/529237081182705 This popular classic and modern vehicle show attracts over 200 vehicles and is a hit with classic car enthusiasts and families. Taking place on The Links, with the beautiful Moray Firth as a backdrop, Wheels of Nairn is a unique classic car rally that combines classic cars with modern vehicles, showcasing motorcycles, sports cars, racing cars, kit cars, family saloons, tractors, customised vehicles and more.

Nairn Christmas Lights – Join us in Nairn for a 12-hour winter celebration including craft fayre, Christmas market, choirs, horse-drawn carriage rides and roasted chestnuts washed down with mulled wine and the traditional Christmas Lights switch-on. With live music and, of course, a very special Christmas visitor, this fun family Street Party is one of the highlights of Christmas in the Highlands.
