Events

If you are staying in self-catering accommodation, you can try breakfast at Speldings at the caravan park, Basil at the harbour, or one of several cafes on the High Street.

For a day away from the beach, Take the 12 minute drive along the A96 to Brodie Castle. This rose-coloured 16th Century castle features the National Daffodil Collection, a Playful Garden filled with colourful characters and a collection of Dutch Old Masters.

Returning on the A96, you’ll pass MacBeth’s Hillock, on your right, just past Fedden. This is reputed to be the site where the Scottish King first set eyes on the three ‘Wyrd Sisters’ or witches in Shakespeare’s murderous tale.

Stop off at Brodie Country Fayre for lunch in the family restaurant and a spot of retail therapy. Then, continuing on the A96 towards Nairn, turn off at Lochloy Road and head towards Culbin Forest. Park at the Highland Council’s East Beach Car Park, 1.5 miles east of Nairn and an ‘All Abilities’ footpath leads into the RSPB reserve. You should take the waymarked trail to the viewing tower at Hill 99. Look out for birdlife and red squirrels on the way. The Forest also leads directly onto East Beach, where you can see WW2 glider barriers built into the sand. After an afternoon’s adventure in the forest, it’s a short drive back to Nairn for dinner.
