As a centre from which to visit tourist attractions in the North of Scotland, Nairn could not be better placed. The town is the eastern gateway to the Highlands , a region steeped in history. In our menu on the left are just some of the many castles, historical sites and places of interest you can visit within two hours drive of Nairn.
Start within Nairn at the Museum. It is packed with information on local history. On the outskirts of Nairn is Culbin Forest and Culbin Sands. Culbin is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is a recognised nature reserve of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). Also on the outskirts of the town are Fort George and Culloden Battlefield, both linked to the events of 1746.
Highland Council Convener Cllr Sandy Park is urging the Nairn public to turn out in numbers for next week's public consulation in the Courthouse on Nairn's long awaited bypass.

Parents and guardians of children are being informed by the Highland Council that it is time for enrolment into pre-school and primary school in the Highlands.
