HEALTH & HAPPINESS.

A new Health and Happiness project has recently started across Highland.  Community Connectors are funded for 3 years by the Big Lottery and Highland Council.  Community Connectors work with adults - and those who are moving into adult services - with Learning Disabilities and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions.

Carrie Bates is the Nairn Community Connector covering Nairnshire.  She is an extra resource available to individuals - known as ‘experts’ within Health and Happiness - and their families/carers.  Carrie is locally based, locally informed and locally led.  Her agenda is the expert’s agenda, helping them and their family/carers to use community resources and to explore what each individual wants to achieve in their life. Carrie’s remit covers health, education, employment, leisure, housing and any other areas important to the expert.  She will be developing links that enable individuals and groups of experts to:·

Make choices about what they do·

Develop their circle of friends and supportive people·

Increase their quality of life·

Be valued within their local community.
